Overview

Lee Vern Sen graduated from Northumbria University with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree in 2014. He was admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in January 2018 after completing his pupillage at Messrs Yong Dan Rakan-Rakan.

Vern Sen later joined Messrs Tay Chai Huat & Co. as an associate and handled a wide array of civil disputes and proceedings, particularly in debt recovery, contractual disputes, family law disputes, tenancy disputes and personal injury claims. He has represented both private individuals and corporations at all levels of the Malaysian courts. Aside from his primary areas of practice, Vern Sen was also trained on matters involving employment and industrial relations law, intellectual property, bankruptcy and corporate insolvency. His vast experience and extensive legal knowledge enable him to give pragmatic advice. He had succeeded the litigation department since the departure of his Head of General Dispute Resolution in 2019.

Like all other entrepreneurs, Vern Sen wanted to start his own venture that aligns with his vision for his career and co-founded Messrs Yan Fei, Vern & Partners. With the blessing of his former employer, Vern Sen will continue to embrace new opportunities and embark on a new journey where his skills would be fully utilized.

Vern Sen is currently serving as a committee member of the IT, Innovation and Future in Technology Committee in the Malaysian Bar. 

  • Represented clients from various industries in resolving disputes involving areas of land and property, contracts, negligence, construction defects and other civil matters.

  • Represented a renowned Seafood Chain Restaurant in Klang Valley in a lawsuit involving breach of contract against a Manpower Agency in Malaysia.

  • Represented a partnership in a professional negligence lawsuit against a law firm.

  • Assisted in obtaining vacant possession for a piece of land worth RM3.85 million from a Petrochemical Company which refused to leave after the property is successfully sold at an auction.

  • Represented a prominent public listed company in a myriad of cases with an accumulated amount of RM100 million at stake, which involve, among others, debt recovery actions for more than 200 companies and defending them in lawsuits as and when necessary.

  • Represented a renowned concrete supplier in a lawsuit which involved disputes on quality of ready mixed concrete supplied.

  • Successfully recovered a six-figure debt from a subsidiary of a public listed property development company in Malaysia through litigation and negotiation.

  • Assisted a client to recover rental arrears by seizing a Billboard worth RM100,000 which is located along the North–South Expressway near Seberang Perai, Penang, through distress proceedings.

  • Successfully defended an education center against a lawsuit based upon wrongful termination by one of its students.

  • Successfully assisted a landlord in the recovery of vacant possession and outstanding rentals & utilities against a recalcitrant tenant after a full trial.

  • Represented both plaintiffs and defendants alike in cases involving personal injury & motor vehicle accident claims.

  • Represented a joint body management (JMB) to collect and recover outstanding maintenance charges from 79 defaulters and assisted the JMB in commencing claim at the Strata Management Tribunal.

  • Provided advisory work for employers and employees alike on various aspects of employment law, such as termination, retrenchment, drafting of contracts of employment, drafting of employee’s handbook, and performance improvement plans.

  • Provided advisory work in relation to protection of IP rights locally and internationally and registered a dozens of trademark for local companies and businesses.

  • Experienced in family law and estate planning, such as the resolution of matrimonial disputes, adoption matters, registration of overseas divorce order, obtaining grants of probate and letters of administration, resealing of grants, drafting of estate planning documents (such as wills, trust deeds, deeds of family arrangements and power of attorney).
